This is our final book club on the topic of abnormal psychology in fiction this summer. Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel became an international bestseller and sparked the popular 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson that gave a face to the potential terrors of mental hospitals. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest follows the boisterous Randle Patrick McMurphy as he “swaggers into the ward of a mental hospital and takes over,” creating disruptions, struggles and ultimately a startling ending. Whether you’re rereading this classic or experiencing it for the first time, we invite you to join us for a thought-provoking discussion.
Register in advance and pick up a copy of the book from the Reference desk. Discussions are led by MPL librarians. A free copy of the book is provided to the first 15 registrants, courtesy of our MLA friends of the library group.
