Program Description

Event Details

In January, we will discuss Sarah Smarsh's book Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth. Books are available to borrow the first week of January. Emails will be sent out when the books are available, which can be check out at the 2nd floor Reference Desk. Nic Shump from Kansas City will lead the discussion. This program is part of our 2024 series Talk About Literature in Kansas (TALK). TALK book discussions bring communities together for engaging conversations over good books. This semester we will look at “The Kansas Experience” by reading and discussing 3 books by Kansans, and we will end with a film discussion. We will have drawings for free books at each event. Sponsored by a grant from Humanities Kansas and the Manhattan Library Association Friends Group.
