Ground Rules for Manhattan Public Library (MPL) Teen Zoom Programs

Respect yourself, respect others and respect the space.

This means that the following are prohibited: verbal abuse or harassment of staff or peers, use of profanity or other inappropriate language , or behaving in any way or manner that can reasonably be expected to disturb other participants or staff.

If you are unsure if a word, joke or image could be inappropriate or offensive, ask yourself if it would be included in a movie rated PG. If it wouldn't, then don't say it, write it or share it.

Always be kind. Don't say anything negative about another person or something that another person enjoys.

Consequences:

Anyone who violates the ground rules will be removed from the program upon the first offense. If this occurs and you wish to attend a later program, you will be required to write an apology (one paragraph) to the group to show that you understand how your words or content were in violation of the rules. You will then be admitted to the next program, but if the inappropriate behavior or language is repeated, you will be be removed from the program again, and not admitted to following online programs.

This may sound harsh, but if we wish to maintain a positive and respectful space online, that requires zero tolerance for disrespect or unkindness.
