Join Manhattan Public Library’s Winter Reading Challenge as you cozy up with a good book this season. Record your reading time and complete some fun activities to earn online badges and prizes, from Jan. 1 - Feb. 29. You can sign up at any point to join the program. 

Sign Up Prize:
      *Choice of Hot Cocoa or Apple Cider drink packet         

Halfway Prize (750 Points):
      *Winter Mug 

Goal Prize (1500 Points):
       *Free book (choices at the 2nd floor Reference Desk or Children's Desk)

  • Program dates: January 1 – February 29, 2024
  • Winter reading is free!
  • Who can join? Adults, Teens, Kids (kindergarten & up)
    • Younger kids can join 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
  • GOAL – 1500 reading points attained by reading (each minute = 1 point) and by completing activities (see options in the Beanstack app under Activities or Badges).
  • How? Download the Beanstack app or go to the Reading Challenges page. Create an account, or Sign In if you previously registered for MPL's reading challenges such as Summer Reading. 
  • Log the time you spend reading or listening to books. Get extra points toward the goal with repeatable activity badges. You will get 5-20 points per activity.
  • You can read anything, not just library books, and you can listen to books being read aloud to you. Magazines, graphic novels, and audiobooks also count for your reading time.
