Event Details
The Mock Caldecott event gives local readers a chance to vote on their favorite illustrated picture book of the year. The actual Caldecott Award is given by the American Library Association every January. If you would like to participate in our Mock Caldecott, visit the K-State English "Mock Caldecott" page for instructions on how to get the list of titles we will vote on and find links to video readings of the books.
Between November 29 and December 1, we invite you to video readings of the selected picture books and vote on your favorites. Then, on Saturday December 2, 2:00-3:30pm, we’ll gather to discuss together a short list of titles and vote in real time to select our 2023 Mock Caldecott winner and honor books.
This program is a joint endeavor between the K-State English Department and the Children’s and Adolescent Literature Community (ChALC), a K-State student organization, with support from the Manhattan Public Library.
